Revelation Book 1 - NY Study Group

On Marcy 24th, 1930, a physical reading was given by Edgar Cayce, the Christian mystic, for a young girl who was suffering from a severe case of nervous instability. The reading described the girl's physical condition, and at a certain point, remarked:

"For the pressure in the lumbar and sacral region, there is that activity to those forces which operate to and through the pineal gland to the upper portions of the body, which corresponds to those forces spoken of in the Book of Revelation. IT WOULD BE VERY GOOD FOR THE DOCTOR HERE TO READ REVELATION AND UNDERSTAND IT! ESPECIALLY IN REFERENCE TO THIS BODY." (caps ours)

The Norfolk Group (The Glad Helpers), three years later, took readings about the true significance of the Book of Revelation. Out of this prayerful research came a key by which the layman might, through disciplined persistence, come to understand the message of the Revelation.

However, this took time and study. Any busy physician, psychologist or psychotherapist would have to devote years of study to it before he could find out what the book was about! This before he could even begin to apply the truths contained in it even if he wanted to with all his heart! This was particularly true for the layman.

In order to make the message at least available, a group of layman in New York met to see if they could apply the key supplied by the Norfolk work, possibly to bring out an interpretation of Revelation for general study. To this task these people have devoted seven years' faithful research and the following pages are the result of their labors.

The Book of Revelation
NY Study Group Interpretation
1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;

13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;

20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

INTERPRETATION

4. John is hereby giving his REVELATION as a guide book and a testimony to the seven churches of Asia, of his own experiences while in meditation. These congregations were as despairing refugees, persecuted and some fallen away, who needed to know a way whereby they could bring into activity the forces of regeneration latent within each INDIVIDUAL body.
This was the purpose of the book, John's opening greeting serves to introduce, perhaps, the concept of the Christ consciousness from within as being the true author of the book, who is now with Jesus, the Man, who became the Christ. He is was, who first fulfilled the pattern of man's evolution and then turned to redeem and reclaim the rest of the race.

8. Alpha and Omega refers to the plan for all evolution, only partly fulfilled at present, which has within it the power to bring about a successful outcome for man in terms of experience in the world.

9. John now states his position as a fugitive also and in dire spirits while living in the isle of Patmos to which he had been banished.

N.B. The instructor is to be the OVERSELF the symbol of the higher self, the superconscious mind, which is endowed with universal consciousness and is the real entity that always survives physical death.

10. John explains that he was in meditation on the "Lord's Day", and what follows takes place within his own body and mind. This is true of the whole book, containing all the images, symbols, and forces described here.

11. The actual physical seven churches of Asia are to be the recipients of the ensuing book, but they will also be used as symbols for the seven glandular centers in the human body, where the physical forces of the body, the mental forces and the spiritual all come together. These are the key spots throughout the body, known as the endocrine system. (A "church" us a meeting place.)

12. Through the imagery of the candlesticks, John is shown that within each center is a mind cell, the light of which would symbolize intelligence, which is in charge of the functions of each center. These in turn are in the control of the superconscious mind with supreme intelligence.

18. The OVERSELF, of the superconscious mind explains that it is in perfect control of all physical and mental states and John is urged to describe his findings for the use of others, the relationships of all the parts of his own body to the whole.
