Commentary on the Kriya Sutras of Babaji
Chapter 3
The Discipline: Sadhanam
Literal Translation

V1) Patience, self study and self surrender are called Kriya Yoga.
V2) To have Realisation, when surrendered to the absolute Self, are called Atmapranidhan.
V3) To have Realisation and to remove the obstructions to Realisation, a discipline is necessary.
V4) Meditation purifies the desires of the heart.
V5) After purification by Yoga practice, pure knowledge of the Self is revealed.
V6) With the practice of Kriyas given by the Gurudev, the Yogi gets all energy from within.
V7) Always associate with Guru as Self; keep away from association with bad elements. Watch the respiration as the Guru has instructed.
V8) Non- violence, truthfulness, non-stealing, celibacy and not taking help from others; these five are called yama.
V9) Purity, contentment and following the instructions of Guru is niyama.
V10) Then the impurities are destroyed.
V11) Continuing for a long time to sit easily in any posture is Asana.
V12) When the continuation of breathing is naturally stopped, Kebala Kumbhaka is held.
V13) When Kebala Kumbhaka is held, Pranayama, also, always is held.
V14) Making the sense organs inward is Pratyahara.
V15) At the blessing of the SELF, divine qualities are revealed in the heart of the Sadhaka.
V16) Meditation, is when attachment has vanished and the desires of the heart have ceased absolutely.
V17) There the Yogic Powers come to the Yogi.
V18) Samadhi is when all external things are dissolved during meditation revealing only meaning.
V19) Concentrating there, the Yogi realizes the Self.
V20) There the Sadha finds the true Guru, Divinity is revealed. Truth is realised, and the Yogi becomes Mukta Sanyasi, a free Yogi.
V21) The Yogi realises the Self to be established in its True Nature at the state called Kaibalyam.
